Growing up on the Fife coast and in Arbroath their harbours, fishing villages and boats have always been a subject of my attention. I learned to draw and sketch in Arbroath harbour, drawing countless numbers of its boats, the buildings, boatyards and life around it. Giving me a natural empathy to this subject matter which encourages me to capture scenes around the coast. That experience greatly assisted my development as an architect, understanding place and capturing it in 3 dimensions.
